About Boggsville (Continued)
Boggsville has an interpretive plan that provides interpretive displays at designated locations along a self-guided trail which include information relating to the historically important individuals that settled Boggsville (i.e. Kit Carson and Thomas Boggs and their Hispanic wives, Josefa and Rumalda Jaramillo (Josefa was Rumalda’s aunt) respectively, and John Prowers and Amache, a Cheyenne woman whose father Ochinee (One Eye) was killed at Sand Creek and other individuals also in similar cross-cultural relationships); local events (early ranching and farming frontier); cultural events (i.e. Boggsville being a center of cultural exchange that included Americans, New Mexicans and Native Americans); and regional events places (Fort Wise/Lyon, Sand Creek Massacre, second Fort Lyon, and Las Animas City).
