JWRHC Today

JWRHC Today

The John W. Rawlings Heritage Center was acquired by the PHSBC in 1999. It is open to the public as a museum, art gallery, event space, archival library & storage, and PHSBC office.

Parking at JWRHC

Parking at JWRHC

Parking for the John W. Rawlings Heritage Center is located on the North side of the building. We appreciate the generous support of the Rawlings Family, the Colorado Historical Fund and many other funders in helping us sustain and promote the history & heritage of Bent County.

US Post Office

US Post Office

The IOOF rented space to the US Post Office on the north side, ground floor of the IOOF Lodge #11 for 10 years beginning in 1904. The contract gave the Lodge the option of renting out the “lobby” or ”front” of the building to another tenant, which they did. The WPA built a separate US Post Office building in 1935 on 6th Street, its current location.

The Park Hotel

The Park Hotel was located on the East lot behind the IOOF Lodge #11. An archaeological assessment of the site has been performed and the historical information can be found in the archival library and in the courtyard at the John W. Rawlings Heritage Center.
